My best friend is coming to town-yippee!

Funny expression–my best friend–sounds like grade school- but Jan and I have been friends since our kids were babies!  I only knew her for six months or so, and then she moved away, but we always stayed in touch.  She was much better at it than me–thank goodness she never dropped the ball.

It’s a comfort to have a friend who has been there for most of your life.  You both know everything—what it’s like to lose your parents, to move a dozen times, to watch your kids mess up and bounce back—to be married to the same guys for a million years, the weight gains and losses, the bad hairdos! And then there’s the conversation that always picks up where you left off, even if it’s been months!  We sing in the car–we laugh–a lot…

We still send real cards.  We talk on the phone–we need to hear the nuances and the laughter.  I have pictures of her on my frig.  She’s beautiful!

We are growing older together and it’s okay…we both get it.  We are blessed by our friendship.  Hold your friends dear.  Life changes so fast, but a good friend is forever—something to be cherished. Yes, this is a love letter…

See you soon, Jan. xoxo
