How I built an outfit…

Brenda’s closet.  Day 120.  I bought a new top–cute as could be–black and white (of course)–horizontal pattern, big collar, almost sleeveless, hip-length.  So perfect when I tried it on in the dressing room.  When I got home, I hung it up to look at later.

Later…I forgot what I was wearing when I tried it on, so when I tried it with leggings, it didn’t look the same.  Hmmm…What was I wearing that day?   After two more wrong pants–I found the white pants that made me buy it, but I was not finding the right top to go under!  Of course, most of my tops are black–different lengths, different sleeves, or no sleeves, different necklines–but all look the same at a glance, so I start playing.  It does need sleeves.  Batwing-no, must be longer sleeves—discard, discard, discard–ok. Need tunic length–that eliminates more.  Narrowing it down to one…but something’s missing.  To button or unbutton?  Unbutton.  Belt or no? Yes.

Okay.  Thirty minutes later.  I did stop in the middle to fluff my hair and put on lipstick to see if that made the top look better  (I know, I know–stupid), but sometimes that helps.  I still like the top, but the process sort of took away my joy…There’s gotta be a better way to do this.  Maybe I really do need to just wear a uniform…

Not really,  I love the challenge.  xo, Bren
