Our stores will be closed Sunday and Monday, May 27th and 28th for Memorial Day.  We  will reopen on Tuesday, May 29th. This gives all of us a couple of days to enjoy our family and friends, and anticipate the beginning of summer!

A fitted jacket  can dress up jeans and bring clean lines to loose dresses. Choose a long or short jacket, whichever suits your body type better–just make sure it is tailored.  This will add definition to your look–sharpen it!  Push up the sleeves if it seems too stiff–it’s a more current look.  Don’t be afraid to try it in a color other than black–

If you are like us…lots of black, gray, and brown stuff. Yes, we live in Boston and we are afraid of color.  Why? Probably for a lot of reasons: black and gray are practical;  you can get dressed in the dark or while you are still asleep and it will look okay; everything matches ; and it requires very little thought.  Sometimes we just want to be wallpaper–you know–fade into the background. Sometimes it’s just too much work.

But…this is not really who we are.  We are fabulous, funny, feminine, and funky!  Let it out!  We like to look great. We want to express ourselves, but sometimes we need a push.  How we dress says so much about us…let’s start to speak!  Send a message!  Try a pink scarf, or a lavender sweater, or a really cool pair of earrings!

We’ll set up a small serving table for you and have all three stores open from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Everyone gets 10% off their purchases!

We call it transitional dressing–a way to make our clothes serve more than one season.  It’s very practical, but requires a little practice to do. Try a Velvet brand tank over one of their t-shirts. Then a jacket or cardigan on top of that. A cotton dress over your jeans or leggings, and then a denim jacket–maybe a bright scarf.  Anthropologie makes lots of interesting pieces that can be used to do this. Vince and J.Crew both make very lightweight cashmere sweaters in all styles that will work all year when paired with another piece.

Dresses can be tunics- blouses can be worn as jackets- boots make summery layered pieces okay for early spring wear.  Experiment! Almost everything in your closet can be worn more than one way…be brave!
